Girls Inc. has several opportunities for ECHO Leadership Program Graduates to continue their leadership development as Youth Leadership Interns – either as Youth Leaders or as members of the Teen Teaching Team.
Interns are hired and trained to deliver programs to young women and girls in high school and middle school. These activities provide a very tangible way for the graduates to learn and practice facilitation, program planning, public speaking, conflict resolution and mentoring skills. The young women work in close partnership with the Girls Inc. staff and program advocates.

Youth Leaders
Up to 12 Youth Leaders are hired as part-time staff and work about 10-15 hours per month in the ECHO Leadership Program. They work in partnership with mentors to facilitate program sessions, recruit and interview prospective participants, provide administrative support, and feedback about program effectiveness.
The Youth Leaders are also completely responsible for creating and presenting workshop activities for the annual all day retreat attended by participants from all six high schools.
In the Smart Choices program, 5 Youth Leaders work in concert with the Girls Inc. staff to implement the week long summer program preparing girls for a successful high school experience.
A Youth Leader may also choose to help with the organization and planning of Will Power/Won’t Power and Friendly PEERsuasion. |
